10 REASONS WHY GAMING IS GOOD FOR YOU

10 Reasons Why Gaming Is Good For You?

Have you ever been told that Gaming is a wastage of time? Was it your mom? Or your dad? Or your teacher? who said this because whenever you see them next tell them, “Its Bullshit”. Gaming has evolved tenfold from the 8 Bit NES Games and the demerits of gaming have turned into merits during all this time. Here are the Top 10 Reasons you can give to anyone who tells you that Gaming doesn’t give you anything. 🙂

1) GAMERS HAVE EXCELLENT HAND-EYE COORDINATION

Yes, it has been scientifically proven that people who play Games over the computer/console have better hand-eye coordination than those who don’t. Have you ever wondered that you never look at your controller or keyboard but still press the correct buttons depending upon what you see in the screen, well that is why it improves your Hand-Eye Coordination. Fast games falling in the genre of Hack and Slash such as God of War and Devil May Cry involve many multi-key combos which help in developing better Hand-Eye coordination. 🙂

2) GAMERS HAVE BETTER DECISION MAKING POWER

Ever played games such as Deus Ex : Human Revolution where the storyline is based completely on your decisions during the gameplay; the choices you make, the paths you take, the guns you shake, the story changes accordingly. Many games are based on this idea and thus, give the players a better decision making strength. 🙂

3) GAMERS HAVE HIGH SELF ESTEEM

Why is this so? Simple. They have saved the world maybe 10 times, won wars around 25 times and shot the final goal maybe a 100 times. 🙂 Games and In-Game Achievements  make gamers feel better about themselves and give them high self esteem. 🙂

4) GAMERS HAVE BETTER APPROXIMATE CALCULATIONS

Approximate Calculations here means time estimates, depth estimates etc. When gamers play games such as Prince of Persia or any other game which involves sudden actions such as a jump during a wall run, they get an idea about how to calculate an estimated time while they are trying to complete the move and when a real life situation strikes, their brain automatically applies the same idea over the problem and it is solved easily. 🙂

5) GAMERS HAVE VARIED AND DIVERSIFIED KNOWLEDGE

There was a time when games were just games, but now games come with many storylines which are adopted from real life happenings, such as the Renaissance in Assassin’s Creed or the World War in Call of Duty or the Vietnamese War. When people play these games they get somewhat idea about the facts, many of them later read and study a little deeper and hence become a little more dexterous in comparison to their non-gamer counterparts. 🙂

6) GAMERS HAVE BETTER REFLEXES

Ever seen someone who catches a falling object almost instantly? A non-official survey proved that a person who plays video-games will catch the object, say a pen, 8 out of 10 times while the person who doesn’t play games often will catch it just 5 out of 10 times. This is due to quick actions in games such as Counter Strike. 🙂

7) GAMERS ARE BETTER TEAM PLAYERS

Multiplayer Gamers, where you have to act in a team, even though you don’t know the other gamers fill the spirit of Team Playing and Team Work into gamers and they can easily adjust in a team of people whom they don’t know that much. 🙂

8) GAMERS ARE GENERALLY PASSIONATE PEOPLE

People who play games can easily become passionate for a task (mission) assigned to them as they have a habit to do so. They will complete the task faster with more efficiency and are therefore, better than the non-gamer community. 🙂

9) GAMERS ARE MORE IMAGINATIVE AND CREATIVE

Gamers are generally exposed to serene and beautiful environments and also to very devastated and barren lands, these instances along with many others increase their idea of locations and surroundings. Also, gamers have better ideas and can brainstorm faster which makes them more imaginative and creative. 🙂

10) GAMERS ARE MORE ATTENTIVE

People who play games can concentrate at many objects and issues at a time and analyze/solve them all at the same time. Gamers are better puzzle solvers and can easily crack abstract problems. Hence, they are more attentive. 🙂

So, all these points prove that Gaming is NOT a wastage of time and it improves the skills of the people who play Games. 🙂

BONUS REASON

Gaming can sometimes save the world in real life too, I once read in a magazine that in a state in the US, a gamers was playing GTA : San Andreas and had the volumes up high. The thieves came in the neighboring apartment and when they heard the police sirens in the game, they believed that the police had come and they abandoned the robbery and went away. No police ever arrived on the scene.
